Time to shift gears. My friends in Seattle bought me a membership in the STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association as a Christmas gift. They were all excited about their fledgling ship, the USS Chinook, and wanted my help in getting her ready for commissioning. With much hard work by all the crew members, our ship was officially commissioned on April 3, 2010. I spent a quite bit of time looking at all things Star Trek, and was pleasantly surprised to see the depth and organization of the fan association. I was also happy to see that they have an academy with short, free classes in an amusing number of subjects. I have since taken 6 of these classes, mostly in communications and genealogy. |
